  • Ensure the system meets SOX or SAS/70 guidelines depending on which the customer adheres to
  • TCP/IP, ensure the service is functioning properly
  • Quarterly analysis of the iSeries security audit logs with reporting to the customer
  • Apply an IBM service pack twice a year to be scheduled with the customer, usually off hours
  • PTF analysis, determine if a PTF is relevant to your system
  • CPU utilization, respond to or escalate based on the customer requirements

    • Ensure receivers are being deleted based on customer definition

  • Audits
    • Provide documentation on user profile maintenance
    • Provide documentation on system values
    • Provide documentation on user profiles that have default passwords
    • Provide any other documentation as required

    • Weekly inspection of the SAL (System Activity Log)
    • Weekly inspection of the PAL (Program Activity Log)
    • Run the WRKDSKSTS command and ensure no drives are in a failed or degraded state
  • Modify the system cleanup as required

    • Apply an IBM cumulative service pack twice a year
    • Interrogate the system logs for any IBM recommended PTFs, download and apply

    • Ensure host servers are running daily

    • Research the benefits of upgrading to the next release
    • Upgrade twice a year if necessary
